White Freshwater Cultured Pearl Necklace with Sterling Silver Clasp (9-10mm) , 18"

I bought this necklace a few days ago, and it's lovely! The clasp is beautiful and the necklace is gorgeous.

UPDATE (Oct 31, 2011): Unfortunately, two days ago the string broke while I was putting the necklace on. I always took great care of my necklace and I'm so upset that this happened. I shouldn't have to have it restrung after less than 6 months of owning it.

First time pearl buyer. Wanted to get something nice for my girlfriend. Read the reviews on this and I took a chance figuring the odds were in my favor to get a good product. Well I was completely wrong. Two things wrong with this necklace:
1. As soon as I pulled the necklace out of the bag I could noticeably see the imperfections in the pearls at an arms distance. Almost every pearl had pits and what looked like mis-drilled holes. I'm no pearl expert but this looked terrible. Not one pearl was smooth all the way around.
2. The Sterling Silver Clasp is a piece of junk. I could not undo it to open the necklace and it broke on the first attempt.

Bottom line: Do not buy this product.

Let me start by saying I am not an experienced pearl purchaser. This was my first purchase, although I have seen many pearls. Overall, I was disappointed. I expect a certain quality product from Amazon and don't feel like these make the cut. The pearls are fairly symmetrical and similar in size. They are however, heavily scratched, pitted, and blemished. These imperfection are easily noticeable within the distance of a casual conversation. For this reason I am uncertain whether I will keep them or return them.
