Seashell pearls are one type of simulated Pearls. They are Man-Made using modern technology that make them look like Southsea Pearls. But they are not cultured Pearls. The process of making a shell pearl involves several different stages. First, the sea shell is grinded and used as the base. The base is coated and polished to the final shape of the pearl. Secondly, a layer of the pulverized cultured pearls are applied to the base by dipping the base into the ishscales and oils, allowing it to dry. The base is polished by hand to remove bumps and blemishes. The second step is repeated many times to build up the density and uniformity in color.

But be wary because they are so heavy, that the clasp is prone to breaking- and sadly, you can't return them for new ones from this seller. It's only possible to get a refund and reorder the same necklace, but after all the hassle I don't want to risk it with the same product. Very sad as I liked the pearls a lot. Maybe I got a defective one? |
